Haven’t done multiplayer, but out of the box I was getting stable 30 FPS during the offline training

Disabling Steam Overlay fixed it. Thanks!
- Comment on Pre-installed Games 1 week ago:
I’ll try some additional ones.
But nothing in particular for the games I have been trying to launch.
- Comment on Pre-installed Games 1 week ago:
I’ve tried both 1 and 3, but will def try 2 as well.
- Comment on Pre-installed Games 1 week ago:
Alternatively you can add them as a non-steam game and run them through steam
This is what I was trying to do.
I have them all set up and installed on a Games folder in either my SD card or SSD (depending on the game).
I add to Steam for the .exe and run via Proton Experimental or Hotfix or 11.
Via Desktop, the game launches, shaders cache, etc. but the screen is frozen on a gray or black or white blank screen — if I tab out or use the system key, I can see the game running fine in the background.

I spent the entire weekend playing with these instead of gaming. 😭

Decky Plugins, I’d wager.

Sadly I don’t have anything stronger, unless you count an Xbox Series S.
The only gaming PC I have access to is a low/mid range one that was built circa 2016 and runs Wuthering Waves (my benchmark game) pretty on par with my Deck, ignoring resolution changes.

The try/die/repeat thing is what got me hooked on Elden Ring for a while. Maybe I’ll enjoy Hades more this time. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- Comment on Games in 4k? 2 weeks ago:
I actually don’t have super strong opinions on Hades. Maybe it’s just because I have played gacha games with roguelike features, but it’s kind of frustrating to me to not be able to pick my build and properly level up or anything like that.
I’ll revisit Hades 1 this weekend and see if my opinion changes, however.

Good stuff. I don’t have Hades 2, but I assume Hades has comparable performance. I’ll give it another try this weekend.

Hey, fair enough. I’m not too much of a quality snob. I just really don’t like stuttering. Bugs the heck out of me haha.
- Comment on Games in 4k? 2 weeks ago:
Oh no. A new thing to install on my deck. This looks like so much fun.

I have both LFD2 and HL2. But not half life 1. How uh… Important is HL1?
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your Deck or Machine? - August 2026 2 weeks ago:
Of the games mentioned, the F-Zero one seems the most interesting. I’ve tried to get into it the unmodded version several times over the years, but it never stuck. The controls always just felt way too slippery.
I ended up trying out RetroDeck after reformatting my deck a few weeks back. Flatpak install was pretty seamless, and I liked being able to save all my ROMs to SD card by default instead of my limited 256 SSD.
I have some of the GCN and GBA games I’ve always loved in addition to stuff I never got around to playing, like Jet Set Radio and Star Fox 64.
Of all my “games” on my deck, RetroDeck/Emulation Station had the highest playtime before I formatted, at 100 hours.

No, tell me your emulated recommendations!
I usually play Pokemon ROMhacks, but started playing Kirby Air Rider and Mario Sunshine.
Also Shadow of the Colossus. Granted none of the properly titled games are Retroarch, but I digress.

I picked up Control - Ultimate Edition a few months ago and beat it.
After playing God of War (2018), some of Hogwarts Legacy, and way too much Destiny and Destiny 2, I am very much tired of the:
“Upgraded gear makes you stronger and there are multiple rarity tiers of gear” mechanic.
I’m debating between playing Mass Effect Legendary (played the Original many times) or starting up FFVII Remake again — I’m about 7 hours into that one.

- Comment on What solution, if any, do you use for gaming in bed? 5 weeks ago:
I say regular, but it often gets pushed to the wayside for those things as well. Plus, not to mention our littlest often wakes up around 10 o’clock. Or 1. Or 4 if we’re lucky.
I also oftentimes stay up much later than I should to game or read 😅
- Comment on What solution, if any, do you use for gaming in bed? 5 weeks ago:
Thanks! Sadly, I don’t think this works well, cause I usually sit up and am awake while I play.
- Comment on What solution, if any, do you use for gaming in bed? 5 weeks ago:
Not really imo. I only do so because my wife likes to watch TV and we hang out together at night in bed. I would prefer to chill in the living room, but she’s a bedroom person. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
- Comment on What solution, if any, do you use for gaming in bed? 5 weeks ago:
Cheap solution. I will definitely try it!

This is kind of what prompted the post. I’ve been seeing ads for these things off and on for a while and always thought it was a bit pricey for what it was haha.

Got it, I’ll check out bad locks. Thanks!

Yeah definitely not this one. It’s been good and filled before. Just wanted to set it up with TW3 + about 40 GBs of Indies.
I appreciate it though. I have been victim to these scam cards before.

- Comment on Valve make steps to improve Steam Deck Verification, giving developers more performance data 3 months ago:
I can’t say I’ve done a ton of triple A games that have come out post 2020.
The only ones I’ve tried are really just Expedition 33.
And that one was really rough in the prologue area, and was pretty stable 30 FPS after getting out of Lumiere with all the falling petals.
