The one group I can think of that actually tests burn in is rtings and they do that for TVs and monitors.
Phone reviewers just cycle through multiple phones so are the least reliable not using one phone as often or as long as regular people. Especially even more now that how long people retain phones has gone up with price increases.
Which actually has me wondering. How long do you typically use phones. Some upgrade every year. Some every 2. I’ve upgraded maybe on average 3 years or longer. So long it was the reason I shifted to custom roms in the past as security updates stopped. And getting nav burn taught me to try things like auto hide it.
I still have a oneplus 6 I use as a back up which is a phone that can out 7 years ago. Now sure how many years I’ve had it, but that’s got burn in couple years ago. Do you use phones that long?

During normal use I wouldn’t notice until I started reading webtoons and manga on my phone which shows a lot of white color that you don’t typically see. And that’s when I’d see the burn in my screen had picked up.

I’ve been hearing how burn in isn’t an issue for years, but every phone I’ve had has had burn in. So I make sure to avoid apps that has a persistent UI if they are ones I’d use frequently.
I wouldn’t notice in normal use cases then be surprised when I read manga or webtoons on the display.

I hate his style of content that is loud and comes off like one huge infomercial, and is the biggest stereotype of the whole smash like, subscribe, patreon, annoying thumbails, buy my merch among youtubers. He’s the poster child when it comes to tech for that.
And given that lemmy tends to be into tech, whether they want to or not his content is something that gets more shoved on them than other content creators. Like this submission for instance.
Which why worse content creators in other fields like streamers or whatever don’t get the same attention, since those are something fans of streamers are more likely to be exposed to. So among streamer fans or model kit fans or cars they may have their own “Linus” creator that keeps being shoved on them and populating search results unless they block the channel.

I’ve never tried it but I can see myself being happy with it if beat saber another other games like pistol whip end up being something I use it often for. And I also want to try Half Life Alyx.
- Comment on [Meta] This community has been renamed to Steam Hardware to include the newly annouced Steam Machine and Steam Frame 5 weeks ago:
Me too. I prefer to be without VR then picking up a meta headset. So it’s nice to finally be seeing a quality non meta option.
- Comment on [Discussion] Should this community also cover the Steam Machine and/or Steam Frame? 5 weeks ago:
Yeah, community being split up might just lead to inactivity for certain hardware if it isn’t popular enough. There’s enough overlap with SteamOS that I think being all in one is the best route. Maybe if lemmy gets way more users in the future then splitting up discussion to dedicated hardware communities might be an option, but for now better to be one.

I do 120 hz on my TV. With PS5 and Xbox I think market for it is bigger than you would think for 120 hz TVs among gamers who picked up new TVs when they got their new console.
