- Comment on Steam Machine launches today! 4 days ago:
I’ve ranted in past comments, but pretty similar here. Got a pre-built that was supposed to be 64gb but came with 32. Got a refund for about 100 to pick up another 32 (at the time that’s about what it was and it saved me the return process), bought the wrong thing so the two sets wouldn’t play nice and then ram started going out of stock and spiking in price the same week so I never fixed it.
Ended up giving one set to a buddy last week so… saved him 500 bucks i guess lol.
- Comment on Valve is so behind on Steam Controller orders that some won’t ship until 2027 1 week ago:
Yeah but this isn’t really the same as the Costco hot dog. It’s a product that’s more expensive than the alternatives (though they don’t have track pads) and steam is the defacto pc gaming software. Other massive companies can barely compete and have to do stuff like epic where they give games out for free (exactly the kind of tactic you’re talking about). My sarcastic comment about the kindness of their heart is because I personally can’t see another reason to do that. That’s why I asked for any evidence - an interview, a tweet from someone who would know, an article, anything other than a hunch.

Do you have any evidence to suggest that valve released a brand new controller and decided, what out of the goodness of their hearts, to sell it for a loss?
- Comment on Steam Frame is Poised for Launch as Units Begin Reaching the US 2 weeks ago:
Based on the controller, I’m not expecting to be able to get one for a bit.
- Comment on [Steam controller] Anyone hear back after the May 8th reservation blitz? 5 weeks ago:
I reserved within a couple minutes of being able to and have heard nothing.

I went higher in my guess than I would’ve just because the state of things at the moment. I would love it if I was wrong since I plan on getting one. If I ignore that I probably would’ve guessed around 800-1100.

It sounds like the machine will have a few versions, presumably just different specs so that’s up in the air. With the stocking issues that I’m sure will affect all 3 I don’t expect any kind of bundle right away so 99 USD for the controller. The frame has more going for it than my hp reverb g2 and that was 600 years back. I’d have to assume at least 1000, maybe upwards of 1500?
So maybe 2600 on the upper end if I guess the machine is 1000? I don’t know though because ram is still sky high so my brain isn’t wired for that.

They’re releasing it as part of a whole lineup that isn’t fully out yet, so you’ve got plenty of time
- Comment on I was recently gifted a Steam Deck for Christmas! If you only had a budget of, let's say 50 bucks, what would you get? 5 months ago:
If you have another console, there are some ways to stream from them that I think are worth mentioning to pad out what you can do on the go.
In steam there’s an app called xbplay, it’s a few bucks but it made the process of streaming from an Xbox pretty simple for me, so i found it worth it.
Not in steam, but easy enough to set up (and free) is chiaki-ng, that’s for Playstation.
If you have some time for setup and obtaining the games, emudeck is good for playing old games from systems all the way up to Xbox and ps2 (ish). Though i use it for older ones.
If you like those vampire survivor games they all run great on the deck and are usually cheap (vampire survivor, megabonk, brotato, deep rock galactic survivor)
Rocket league
From there, maybe something older you never played, it’ll probably be on sale. Maybe dead rising 1 or 2, serious Sam or doom. Speaking of doom, that similar Warhammer 40k game boltgun is 60% off at the moment.

Yeah that sites great, you can set thresholds for each game if you want to wait until it’s over 50% off or whatever before getting notified. It also imports your steam wishlist.
Edit: also… if you collect the weekly freebies from epic games you can install heroic games launcher on the steam deck to play those.
True, though you don’t get the existing cloud saves so if you’ve started a game already it’s a little annoying.
- Comment on Witchfire director says “everybody should attempt to support” Steam Deck as it just makes games better for everyone 6 months ago:
Valve is probably responsible for me moving to Linux fully because of proton and how steam works on Linux. While I would be bitching nonstop about Microsoft, I don’t know if getting off windows would be worth it to me if it was a hassle to play games.
- Comment on Why won’t Steam Machine support HDMI 2.1? Digging in on the display standard drama. 6 months ago:
Honestly arc is a great idea that never seems to work for me. I’ll always be RIGHT there, but my Blu-ray player turns on randomly when I’m doing something else, or something like that. So I end up turning it off.

Can we stop finding ways to do this?
- Comment on [Discussion] What games are you playing on your deck? - September 2025 9 months ago:
I’ve been using xbplay and chiaki to stream from either my Xbox or Playstation when I’m out at my brother’s to play games with him. Otherwise, a little bit of rocket league.
- Comment on Gaming handheld prices are out of control, except for the Steam Deck 9 months ago:
Also… they’re not publically traded.
They do not have investors constantly forcing maximization of short term profits at the cost of literally everything else.
I fantasize about the idea of starting private companies for things currently dominated by public companies, with the sole idea of not being greedy and shitty.
