Nice. For some reason this particular video wasn’t there when I checked it. I update my reply.

Too much work.

Why?
- Comment on Steam machine prices are live 4 days ago:
To me, at this point it makes no sense to go with 512gb model, if you pay already that much money. The limitations of 512 is too extreme in my opinion.
- Comment on Steam machine prices are live 4 days ago:
I was wrong. People told me weeks ago the cheapest options with smallest drive and without controller will be at least 1k priced. I really did not think this would happen… but here we are. Steam Machine is basically dead on arrival, this hurts.

Oh wow, you are right, I totally forgot about that.
- Comment on Valve Adds FSR 4 Directly To Proton Experimental and Steam 4 days ago:
Why Valve is awesome!
I’m also very surprised this is possible. I know others like Digital Foundry have replaced DLLs in games under Windows, to change the upscaler or upgrade it. So having this in Steam builtin doesn’t come as a surprise to me at all. What surprises me is, that the Steam Deck seemingly is able to handle FSR4? I thought AMD is working on making FSR4 work on RDNA 3.5 and later 3. But Steam Deck has RDNA 2 hardware. Maybe I don’t understand what I’m even talking about, so please correct and explain this to me then.

Sometimes it takes longer to load. And there are times, when the site is outright broken. So no, you are probably not the only one. I might depend on the time and day you use and where you are located. I usually post both links, to YouTube directly and to Invidious. But didn’t took the time to do so here, as I figured its not that important.

Oh, I just noticed something. Just started Steam and tried it again and again, but it wouldn’t scream. But Steam was running in the background. Turns out, Steam client has to be in focus on the screen too. At least that was the case for me. First try it screamed. Also quite impressive if you think about it, as there are no speakers.
- Comment on New web app can make Valve's Steam Controller drift across your desk like an RC car — web app drives the gamepad using its rumble motors 6 days ago:
I think it needs a swing and fly for a bit bit before it gets triggered? Or yours just don’t get scared as quickly, lol. BTW Steam HAS to be open and connected to the controller at the time you try this. Maybe that is the solution to “your problem :p”?
- Comment on New web app can make Valve's Steam Controller drift across your desk like an RC car — web app drives the gamepad using its rumble motors 6 days ago:
If it has been triggered once, then it enters into a “cooldown” period of seconds or minutes until it can scream again. But if you never go that in the first place, then maybe you do it too safe. Don’t blame ya for that. My recommendation is to go to your bed, a large surface I assume, and then throw it at a distance of 1 meter away (onto the bed).

- Comment on Options for using the Steam controller outside of Steam 1 week ago:
I’m mostly looking forward to the SDL3 support. Mostly for emulators. RetroArch I think already has support for it. I still need to test that. Hopefully other emulators will catch up. Maybe its time to “switch” off from Yuzu to a modern Switch emulator, because Yuzu won’t support it probably most likely definitely. :D
- Comment on [Game] CONTROL Resonant plans to support Steam Deck at launch 1 week ago:
Yeah I remember it being free on Epic Games Store. They gave lot of pretty good games away, and lot of people just sign there up for the free games. So that library cannot be ignored (and shouldn’t). It can be added manually to the Library view, but one has to go to Desktop mode and install and manage Epic Games account with Heroic Games Launcher. There is even a plugin for Decky Loader to automate some processes for you and integrate game into the Steam Library: github.com/mubaraknumann/unifideck I don’t use Epic Games, so cannot talk from personal experience.
- Comment on [Game] CONTROL Resonant plans to support Steam Deck at launch 1 week ago:
Me too. It’s in my library of shame. If you don’t have it yet, its on sale for very cheap price of 4 Euros, so I would wait: SteamDB lowest recorded price is 3.99€ at -90%, Price seen 7 times, last on Jun 1, 2026 (16 days ago) …steampowered.com/…/CONTROL_Ultimate_Edition/

- Comment on Malicious Atomic Arch NPM Campaign Thread 1 week ago:
I know, and I answered accordingly. I gave an alternative to install packages, because its not recommended to use AUR on Steam Deck.
- Comment on Malicious Atomic Arch NPM Campaign Thread 1 week ago:
I agree with you, nobody should disable readonly mode and tinker with system packages (and I do not mean Flatpak). However there is an alternative to this and officially supported. Valve added an exception to Nix package manager, that you can use to install packages from Nix repository and update them without pacman. And it will remain even after a system update, without disabling readonly system.
- Comment on Malicious Atomic Arch NPM Campaign Thread 1 week ago:
That was my understanding but I’m not sure I agree with your conclusion though.
My conclusion does align with yours, so I’m not sure what you mean. It is likely to be infected, because most people don’t use the AUR on the Steam Deck (because of the reverting back). And my conclusion was, if anyone is infected, then I would not trust the system anymore.
- Comment on Malicious Atomic Arch NPM Campaign Thread 1 week ago:
It is not impossible. SteamOS itself is not “stripped down”, at least that is not the reason why you cannot install packages from AUR. SteamOS has a write protection for the system files and the operating system installation. On top of it, any changes made to it will be reverted back with a system update.
One can enable write permission and install AUR packages. However with the next update the system is usually reverted back and changes like these are lost. Therefore being infected on Steam Deck is unlikely. If anyone did that and got infected during that period of time, then I wouldn’t trust the installation anymore.
- Comment on Corrupt Update Files error when installing game to SD card 1 week ago:
Alternative: Also there is a possibility that the SD card shows a bigger size than it actually is. In example it might show up as 32GB but in reality it is just 8GB. These scam cards were sold (or still are) for cheaper price and look like a normal card. When you write stuff on it, then it just looks like it will write data, but after the (let’s say) 8GB real size, anything goes into thin air. Checking for errors will not find anything there, as the sectors would be fine or falsely simulated to be fine via its firmware.

- Comment on Steam is ending the physical Steam Gift Cards at retailers! 2 weeks ago:
Buying Steam games and hardware without involving credit cards or bank accounts is only possible by buying gift cards with cash in a local shop. What do you mean the only winner is the company? This is a real value for me, so am I not a winner in that sense too?
- Comment on Steam is ending the physical Steam Gift Cards at retailers! 2 weeks ago:
I was describing how it works right now. After they get rid off physical Gift Cards, there will be no alternative to this.
- Comment on Steam is ending the physical Steam Gift Cards at retailers! 2 weeks ago:
I’m okay giving my data and trail to purchase on Steam. That is not the issue. All I care is buying Steam Wallet without any need for credit cards or bank accounts, directly in a shop paying for physical Steam Gift Cards with cash from my hand.
- Comment on Steam is ending the physical Steam Gift Cards at retailers! 2 weeks ago:
Germany here. Direct bank transfer is not a replacement for Steam Gift Cards I could buy in local stores. I would want to avoid bank transfer, credit cards or a third party service such as PayPal. My preferred way to buy games on Steam is going into a local shop, buy physical Steam Gift Card with cash from my hand and then rub the number, enter it in Steam to get money on my account. And there is nothing that can replace this workflow. Paysafe Cards were a thing in the past I used too, but I think they are no longer available as physical cards in Germany.
- Comment on Steam is ending the physical Steam Gift Cards at retailers! 2 weeks ago:
I know and that’s the point i’m making; it won’t work without a credit or debit card. The cool think about digital gift cards was, one could go into a shop and buy anonymously without any card requirement. That option is no longer possible and therefore doesn’t work fine in my opinion. It’s a big deal to me.
