- Comment on What's the Country of Origin for the new Steam Controller? 2 days ago:
I have the box myself. You are right, it says designed by VALVE and assembled in China. I didn’t think of checking the box, only looked at the controller and on the controller itself it does not say where it is made in for some reason.
Well there it is then.
- Comment on What's the Country of Origin for the new Steam Controller? 2 days ago:
That’s the puck that is made in China. It’s a separate product with a different product ID. So that is not a proof the Controller is made in China, especially because VALVE has a facility to build the first Steam Controller in US. Most likely smaller parts are made in China, but the Controller might be assembled in US, in VALVEs own full automated facility. I’m guessing here, but we have no proof right now.
- Comment on What's the Country of Origin for the new Steam Controller? 2 days ago:
I would assume the controller is made in US. The original Steam Controller 1 from 2016 is build by Valve, they have their own facility. I don’t know if this applies to the new Controller too, but here is the video in question: youtu.be/uCgnWqoP4MM
When we first started designing hardware at Valve, we decided we wanted to try and do the manufacturing as well. To achieve our goal of a flexible controller, we felt it was important to have a similar amount of flexibility in our manufacturing process, and that meant looking into automated assembly lines. It turns out that most consumer hardware of this kind still has humans involved in stages throughout manufacturing, but we kind of went overboard, and built one of the largest fully automated assembly lines in the US. Our film crew recently put together a video of that assembly line, showcasing exactly why robots are awesome.
Here’s that showcase, where you can watch controllers being built entirely by robots. We aren’t crazy though, so humans are still on hand to keep the robots from becoming sentient.

I’ve managed to do it more than once. Someone somewhere mentioned there is a possible cooldown, so you have to wait a few seconds before it screams again.

Just tried it out and showed it to family. We are literally flabbergasted. :D

I’m actually happy about GLS. They delivered to Germany, day was correct and even the timeframe between 2 hour window was correct. The driver ring the bell and was going up 4 floors without elevator (where I live). This was pretty nice.
Sometimes the other delivery aren’t like that. They would usually not even ring and tell they were there just to not walk up the floors. And wouldn’t even leave anything so I know which neighbor or shop took it for me and is waiting for me to take it.
- Comment on Got my Steam Controller today 1 week ago:
I got mine yesterday and have yet to play a game with it (not just trying out) to judge it. I’m glad the d-pad feels good, better than on original Steam Deck. And the back buttons are better too. However, I already have 2 issues with it (I knew about the first point before purchase): Gamepad does not work without Steam. The puck does not wake up the controller when picking up, nor does it turn it off when I put the controller back to the puck. I like the dock of my 8bitdo more.
- Comment on [Controller] Think these people will be disappointed 1 week ago:
What will they do if there is a new Steam Controller in the future? Name it Steam Controller again? Or name it Steam Controller 2? Then every reference in the web to Steam Controller 2 would be hell confusing. I don’t hope this is the start of bad naming like Microsoft got themselves into with Xbox consoles.
- Comment on [Controller] Think these people will be disappointed 1 week ago:
Or just Steam Pad.

- Comment on [Game] Subnautica 2 Is Steam Deck Verified 1 week ago:
The only problem with 24 fps cinema framerate is, it got 24 fps input latency too. It does not mean it can’t work, like old games. But those were “designed” around that (remember Starfox on SNES?). Todays games are not. Likewise if a game is designed for 30 fps, such as Tears of the Kingdom for Switch, then its totally fine after you get used to it.
- Comment on [Game] Subnautica 2 Is Steam Deck Verified 1 week ago:
Why is 30 fps not playable in your opinion?
- Comment on [deleted] 1 week ago:
Nintendo consoles are usually there to play exclusive games on it. The Steam Controller on the other hand is not a neccessary device. I don’t know if Nintendo does scarcity intentionally (I doubt that, but that is not the point here), but for Valve there is absolutely no reason to.
- Comment on [deleted] 1 week ago:
Valve has no reason to do this with intention. I just think they didn’t a good job preventing or slowing down scalpers. I think they didn’t think it would sell out like this, because they know the price is a bit on higher side. And compared to the Steam Deck, they don’t “need” to sell those controllers immediately.
At the end I believe it was just miscalculation. That’s all to it.
- Comment on What driver would the Steam Controller come with if not xinput? 1 week ago:
Valve could open source the Steam Controller driver (including the Steam Input configuration and full set of functionality) and make it installable to use without Steam. And for Linux users, at least the core driver could be integrated into Linux for out of the box usability. This would be my perfect scenario. No need to emulate a different type of device, it is its own. A man can only dream.
- Comment on Steam Controller is Out of Stock 1 week ago:
I just snag one.
Man I had a hard time battling with myself. On one side, I really want one and was waiting years for this even before the Steam Deck was on the market. On the other hand, my limit was 90 Euros (taxes included). And worse than that, it only functions with Steam. Yes, duh you say, its in the name, the Steam Controller. My hope was I could use it as a replacement for my controller acting as a regular gamepad without all the bells and whistles, playing emulators without Steam too. Looks like my that is not gonna happen anytime soon.

Yes, THEY do need leaks, not WE. :-)
- Comment on Steam Controller early review leak claims $99 launch price 3 weeks ago:
I think the main advancement and attraction of the TMR technology over Hall Effect is the better battery power usage. I wasn’t aware that it is even more sensitive to movements and changes than Hall Effect, according to the linked article. But don’t know how much the differences in battery usage and sensitivity are.
- Comment on Steam Controller early review leak claims $99 launch price 3 weeks ago:
There are controllers that offer almost all off this such as hall effects, back buttons, gyro, full remappability, even including a dock and a builtin memory to save settings, just without the touchpads. In example the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller and it costs only $55.99. I am not saying it is fully equivalent (clearly it isn’t, as touchpads are missing and a few little features off course).

I did a websearch with

- videocardz.com/wp-content/plugins/…/readme.txt
- videocardz.com/wp-content/plugins/…/readme.txt
I guess this is proof they are using Wordpress.
- Comment on Steam Controller early review leak claims $99 launch price 3 weeks ago:
The leaked review also lists several controller features. These include dual trackpads, magnetic TMR or Hall effect thumbsticks, HD rumble and four back buttons. The controller is also said to use a wireless dongle that doubles as a magnetic charging puck.
We don’t need the “leaked” video for that. These are officially confirmed features of the controller, with a video and web page dedicated to the controller by Valve.
- Comment on Steam Controller early review leak claims $99 launch price 3 weeks ago:
Oh no, I can’t believe that. 100 Dollars is a lot of money for a gamepad, even though it is exactly what I was waiting (and hoping) for years. I thought it would cost 70, and was ready for 80 if neccessary. I said 90 would be the maximum limits… Oh no, do I have to break my word? Man 100 is tough. Maybe it will cost 90 Euros… maybe I don’t have to break my word…
- Comment on I've been using my steam deck wrong this whole time 3 weeks ago:
Man the Steam Deck surprises me still, after all those years.
- Comment on Steam controller price 3 weeks ago:
70 Dollars / Euros, if we are lucky 60 Dollars. 80 is possible, due to current market situation, but I doubt Valve would go so far. Anything higher than that is highly unlikely in my opinion. Maybe there will be refurbished ones in the future, for cheaper price.
I would even buy one if it costs 90, but not more. I buy two right away if they cost 60 at launch.

Right, my bad. You are absolutely right to mention that.
- Comment on PRAGMATA Gets The Steam Deck Verified Badge To Show It's Great On The Go 4 weeks ago:
I would say that if you purchase the game, then I do not consider it pirating to crack the Denuvo, just for playing the game (without abusing anything). Although I can understand pirating without buying, because you don’t want to reward Denuvo and the company using it.
- Comment on PRAGMATA Gets The Steam Deck Verified Badge To Show It's Great On The Go 4 weeks ago:
Does swapping the Proton version still causes issues for Denuvo? I mean if changing the Proton version can lock me out of the game, I’m not sure if I want pay and reward both companies for that.
