i was legitimately confused why i was getting zero replies in very active threads. and yes this is just a whine post about how horribly opaque fediverse moderation is these days
rule 1? rule 2? fuck if I know what I said that broke those rules, here’s a ban that you don’t even get notified about. i probably said fuck too many times. that’s “not respectful”.

I was banned from the climate sub by the mod for disagreeing that humanity will survive the climate apocalypse. No message, just deleted comments. Isn’t that right @silence7 ?

people really seem to have a boner for the apocalypse, from what i’ve seen the reality is that poor people will as always get shafted and most people in developed countries will be mostly fine albeit with a lot of change and maybe having to move if you live in a flooding-prone area.
I always thought a zombie apocalypse would be fun, but a storm planet with insane class disparity full of oil/water wars isn’t going to be fun at all.
It’s soo weird when you a lot of people have weird fantasies about the apocalypse. It gets downright terrifying when you start to mix in nationalism in it.
I hate to break it everyone, most of us are not going to survive the apocalypse. The only ones who are going to survive are the ones that I can survive and were lucky enough to be in the right place at the wrong time. It won’t matter that you have a bunker full of supplies, what the fuck are you going to do when your supplies run out? Or someone with a bigger gun comes? All that gold and crypto you bought for the apocalypse won’t mean shit.
Interesting take. I’ve always posited that the earth and nature will survive but I never included people in that. It’d probably be a reversion to nomadic and hunter/gatherer tribes to start. The question is would it take as long to rebuild? And would it follow the same path again?
Depends on if we destroy the ecosystem long enough and hard enough to kill everything over 50 pounds.
You‘re not allowed to say anything bad about China or Russia over there. Got banned on a few communities too. The mods over there are pretty petty and enforce the „rules“ as they like.

100% mods just toss them around to ban opinions they don’t like. I even got one for genocide that I’m not even able to see what I said. Good Lord I wish I could see what pissed them off so much.
You’re in good company. The same thing happened to me and my posts. Also happened to Picard M. We both had our posts removed and is banned for reasons we couldn’t figure out. I ended up making a second account to ask that instance why my posts weren’t able to be seen. Then the same admin (the one who banned us and removed the posts) then contacted us to try to elaborate but has no real answer. Started giving reasons for removal that made no sense within reality, nevermind their insanely vague rules.
The mods and admins are way too inconsistent over there. They do what they want, they don’t enforce. It’s exactly why I outright left lemmy.ml and don’t bother to engage with them anymore. It’s not consistent enough to know what to do and what not to do.
They wanna act like petulant children and throw shit at the walls then they can do so on their own.

Essentially the empty room fallacy is where you can’t use any public social media platforms or say these things in public but you can say these things in a empty room. Is that still free speech. No that’s absurd. The purpose of speech is to be able to communicate share ideas common interests to talk to one and another and to be able to challenge political ideas in a open and free manor

Wait, how do I check for bans? Because I find it suspicious that I haven’t been banned from anything when that happened regularly on Reddit
Go to the “Modlog” page at the very bottom of the web interface for your instance. You can search moderation tasks by username, such as your own, and it should show removed content.
I’ve found actual instance bans don’t federate reliably though, so you’d have to check the target instances by opening their web page in an incognito or logged-out browser window, and view their modlog directly instead of your home instances’ modlog.

I’ve just seen I had a comment removed from lemmy.ml, for “rule 1” reasons but don’t really see what’s wrong with the comment other than it goes against the political grain of the community (world news).
People have talked about a modlog but I had no idea what they meant

Good thing there are hundreds of other instances. This a solved problem with Lemmy.
Oh I know theres lots more out there. But I’m uber lazy and like my one comfy account with a specific set of subscribed comfy communities

I’m kinda not surprised the FOSS community would end up on a communist instance, I’m actually considering just blocking the entire .ML instance at this point.
I’m so sick of seeing them having a tantrum every time YouTube tries to make them either pay for the service, or watch ads.

Okay can someone please point me to a real, physical, existing example of this happening? I’ve got multiple accounts on multiple instances from when the servers I used were less stable and not once on any of them have I ever seen a single person defend Russia or China politically.
Not trying to be decisive it just comes up a lot and at this point feels like a red scare tactic
