I noticed my OLED’s fan was running a lot more than it used to, even at lower wattage amounts (~18w). At first I just assumed it was dirty fan/thermal paste, but I cleaned my fan and repasted my APU and it didn’t reallt change anything.
Since then I saw someone mention increased fan use since a recent update, so I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this as well?
I have not noticed that. What have you been playing? If you’ve been playing the same games, and they’ve had updates, it’s possible those updates are unoptimized or just heavier to run at the settings you had previously.
Mostly Trails in the Sky First Chapter. It is possible that I just reached more demanding parts of the game, although the power usage have really changed.
Anyways it’s hard to say for sure, just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed something similar.
Unfortunately, I tend not to play anything that pushes the power needs above 12W—usually something 2D, so it’s possible that I just don’t do anything that would make a noticeable change. Take my experience with a grain of salt.
I had an issue with the fans on mine. Went through steam support for some troubling steps and eventually had to send it in for repair.
~$160 for the repair, but issue is resolved.
I haven’t noticed any increase, but I tend to use custom fan curves and play the same 5 - 10 games most of the time, so it doesn’t vary much.

I worry this may be some form of confirmation bias or something. Because at that I was like “huh, I hadn’t thought of that, but now that I do, I think you’re right! It HAS been slightly more lately!”
Then I realized that I’ve been purposely holding off updates since August, so it can’t be true haha.
I’m not saying the same happened to you, I’m just saying it happened to me, so it’s possible it’s happening to others 🤷♂️😂
