Are you planning to upgrade to two sticks?
To find matching sticks we should organize an exchange, for everyone getting two new sticks, they have one (probably) matching stick for someone who keeps the original one.

Cost to performance ratio of “upgrading” to dual-channel doesn’t really make sense.
Seems like the actual difference in gaming performance is negligible in all but a few edge cases.
Also ddr5 is supposed to be less impacted running single chanaled
That’s what I was thinking… secondary market for replaced Steam Machine memory… but TBH, after I got downgraded from the 2TB reservation to the 512, and saw the removal of the 4K60 stat, and the problems with single channel memory, and the cancelation of the Companion Cube, I don’t even want one anymore. 😔
Wait you actually planned to pay the asking price for one of these?
I have the money. 😉
wait, they cancelled the Companion Cube shroud?
Dbrand didn’t have permission and just yolo’d it without speaking to Valve.
Dbrand didn’t license it.
Couple of posts down from this one:
I honestly expected the differences to be a lot larger. For some chill gaming, it’s almost irrelevant if there’s one or two sticks.
If I were to get one, and I’m not rich to throw away money at this, I’d be wary of upgrading them myself. The teardowns showed there are some particularly fragile ribbons cables glued that would be really easy to damage.

I mean, this honestly seems rather nice of Valve? The performance difference likely isn’t that much, and if you are the kind of person where it does matter you’ll probably want to upgrade to 32GB anyway. In which case you can just buy a single 16GB stick rather than having to buy a full kit.
