- Comment on Turn Your Steam Deck Buttons Into Game Boy Ones With New Upcoming Button Set 3 days ago:
Is that just for the buttons? I did a one minute eBay search and you can get a pink replacement for every button and the whole shell for $40!
- Comment on Undertale? 4 days ago:
I hope this isn’t too late, but don’t read anything about this game before you play it!

Neat!
- Comment on Microsoft Gaming CEO: “I think we should have a handheld, too” 3 weeks ago:
You’ll get maybe ten to fifteen years out of it
That’s way longer than most consoles last before the servers get turned off
- Comment on What do you use the back buttons for? 3 weeks ago:
Yeah, ideal for any games where you don’t want to take your thumb off the right stick to press A/B/X/Y
- Comment on What do you use the back buttons for? 3 weeks ago:
I initially tried pressing the bit that’s not flat against the back by squeezing it and it really wasn’t comfortable for my hand, but pressing the bit that is flat against the back is way easier
- Comment on Do you still use your Steam Deck much? 4 weeks ago:
Almost every day, it’s really helping get through the backlog I’ve built up over the years!
- Comment on It's Time to Bring Back the Steam Machine 1 month ago:
Depends on which browser is the default, I think. Even if that doesn’t work you can set you private DNS and block most things though.
- Comment on What is your favorite Open Source Game on Steam Deck? 1 month ago:
I saw it posted recently but the install looked non-trivial, so it’s now sitting in my “to play when I can be bothered to do some tinkering” pile. What did you do to get it running on Deck?
- Comment on [Discussion] What kind of protective and carrying cases do you use for your Deck? 2 months ago:
The one it came with, though I don’t generally use it out and about
- Comment on Are there any accessories that improve holding the steam deck with one hand? 2 months ago:
I’ve got something I can only describe as a “gamer’s breastfeeding pillow”, it’s a sort of U-shaped pillow which you rest your arms and Deck on. Mainly used for long two-handed play sessions, but it would definitely help for one-handed play.
Alternatively you could just try to get used to using the touchpad as a mouse, but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
- Comment on looking for a dock that let's me connect my DVI monitor 2 months ago:
Honestly it’s not that bad, you can probably whack a few more dongles in there
- Comment on looking for a dock that let's me connect my DVI monitor 2 months ago:
That looks horrible and where did you find a picture of my setup?
- Comment on looking for a dock that let's me connect my DVI monitor 2 months ago:
Also make sure it’s converting the right way, I discovered to my detriment that DVI->HDMI != HDMI->DVI!
- Comment on Playtron plans to launch PlaytronOS, a Linux-based OS for gaming 3 months ago:
Choice of Linux distro has always been very fragmented though, and in my very limited knowledge it doesn’t really seem to be that much of a problem. They all basically do the same thing using the same core technology, so if both this and the Steam Deck are making use of Linux to be the OS and Proton to actually play the games then the rest is just a nice bit of user choice, right?
- Comment on Playtron plans to launch PlaytronOS, a Linux-based OS for gaming 3 months ago:
Linux and user choice? Even if it flops it’s always good to have more people trying out stuff like this!

I picked up the ivoler one a year or so ago, seems pretty decent

Proton DB agrees, use proton experimental

Flatpak is the technology that the package manager in desktop mode uses to install software

Don’t besmirch the good name of Ling’s Cars like that, it’s like a lighthouse in a sea of corporate blandness!
- Comment on Good gaming experiences with no HUD? 6 months ago:
People get immersed in different ways. Some people get involved in the story, putting themselves in the character’s shoes and imagining it’s a real world. Some people get lost in the gameplay, enjoying the mechanics and focusing entirely on completing the challenge. For some people it’s TV, film, books, or just chatting at the pub and losing track of time. I’m sure you get immersed in something!
- Comment on Back in my day 6 months ago:
Be thankful you didn’t watch Watership Down
- Comment on Back in my day 6 months ago:
Bambi?! WTF, why show that to kids?
To teach them about death as part of a story with a happy ending. I think that The Lion King does it better though as they’ve already been briefed on the circle of life.
- Comment on Back in my day 6 months ago:
I used to watch the same movie about every month or so back when I was growing up
I don’t think this is a technical limitation, I think young children really like repetition because their brains are still learning how to predict things
- Comment on “Rumblr” 6 months ago:
Oh I didn’t even see that someone had blurred “pussy”, at least that could be explained by OP being a child and wanting to share this in the family group chat. I meant the fact that the original creator used “f*ck”, like anyone who doesn’t have to deal with broadcasting regulations would ever have a reason to pointlessly censor themselves.

Violence with strangers? Fuck yeah!
Swear words!? Fuck no!
- Comment on Microsoft spending $1B annually on third-party Xbox Game Pass titles 6 months ago:
I think $10 is per month, so multiply that by 12 to get the $3B
- Comment on A Brief History of the GTA Game Series, The Most Famous Game in History! 6 months ago:
Something about the narration just sounds a little… off, like it’s a bit robotic and slowed down. Is this just this channel’s style, or is it some chatbot-generated text-to-speech thing?

I found this so interesting that I then went and watched the full version, absolutely fascinating view into how you make a video game in the brave new 3d world of the 90s!
