- Comment on Well that was fast, refurbished OLED Decks are now available on Steam 1 week ago:
Psh, why would I want that when I already have the ultimate CRT handheld?
- Comment on [Discussion] Steam Autumn Sale has started. What are you buying for your Steam Deck? 3 weeks ago:
Well I run !freegames@feddit.uk so I end up filling the backlog with freebies faster than I can play them anyway!
- Comment on [Discussion] Steam Autumn Sale has started. What are you buying for your Steam Deck? 3 weeks ago:
A healthy attitude to take. Having a Deck is finally letting me get through the backlog, I’m not going to start adding to it again!
- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 3 weeks ago:
Oh that’s cool, I’d not even considered using it to control a mouse
- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 3 weeks ago:
They’re apparently worth a fair bit now if you’re looking to just get rid of it
- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 3 weeks ago:
It did, and I think it did so very well
- Comment on [Leak] Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers 3 weeks ago:
What’s a two-stage trigger? Analogue until it’s all the way down, then a click (like the GameCube)?
- Comment on Gaming 2024 2 months ago:
My office chair is a gaming chair (seems fine), my gaming chair is the sofa and a big pile of cushions (and the bog, of course)
- Comment on Frame of Mind developer ended up coding the game on Steam Deck for a year 2 months ago:
Read the story, it wasn’t just for fun, it was their only working PC!
- Comment on Decky "Pause Games" plugin got rid of audio static I got resuming games from sleep 3 months ago:
Yeah I’ve had the ‘crackly audio on resume’ bug occasionally for two years now, that said I haven’t had it for a while. I thought they’d fixed it, but maybe I’ve just been lucky!
- Comment on NonSteamLaunchers is now available as a Decky Plugin 4 months ago:
I didn’t know Heroic did Amazon too, I’ve got Lutris set up for that
- Comment on NonSteamLaunchers is now available as a Decky Plugin 4 months ago:
Heroic has always been fine for GOG for me, but it just wouldn’t load any of my Epic library last time I tried to use it
- Comment on A Steam Deck Mini PC Using Real Hardware 4 months ago:
Yeah that makes sense. Do you know if there’s any more info about these projects? I’d love to know how they actually work under the covers but this post definitely seems aimed at people who already know a lot about the project!
- Comment on A Steam Deck Mini PC Using Real Hardware 4 months ago:
So… err… where do I put the disc?
- Comment on Turn Your Steam Deck Buttons Into Game Boy Ones With New Upcoming Button Set 5 months ago:
Is that just for the buttons? I did a one minute eBay search and you can get a pink replacement for every button and the whole shell for $40!
- Comment on Undertale? 5 months ago:
I hope this isn’t too late, but don’t read anything about this game before you play it!
- Comment on Valve has a new Steam Chart for the most played Steam Deck games 5 months ago:
Neat!
- Comment on Microsoft Gaming CEO: “I think we should have a handheld, too” 6 months ago:
You’ll get maybe ten to fifteen years out of it
That’s way longer than most consoles last before the servers get turned off
- Comment on What do you use the back buttons for? 6 months ago:
Yeah, ideal for any games where you don’t want to take your thumb off the right stick to press A/B/X/Y
- Comment on What do you use the back buttons for? 6 months ago:
I initially tried pressing the bit that’s not flat against the back by squeezing it and it really wasn’t comfortable for my hand, but pressing the bit that is flat against the back is way easier
- Comment on Do you still use your Steam Deck much? 6 months ago:
Almost every day, it’s really helping get through the backlog I’ve built up over the years!
- Comment on It's Time to Bring Back the Steam Machine 7 months ago:
Depends on which browser is the default, I think. Even if that doesn’t work you can set you private DNS and block most things though.
- Comment on What is your favorite Open Source Game on Steam Deck? 7 months ago:
I saw it posted recently but the install looked non-trivial, so it’s now sitting in my “to play when I can be bothered to do some tinkering” pile. What did you do to get it running on Deck?
- Comment on [Discussion] What kind of protective and carrying cases do you use for your Deck? 8 months ago:
The one it came with, though I don’t generally use it out and about
- Comment on Are there any accessories that improve holding the steam deck with one hand? 8 months ago:
I’ve got something I can only describe as a “gamer’s breastfeeding pillow”, it’s a sort of U-shaped pillow which you rest your arms and Deck on. Mainly used for long two-handed play sessions, but it would definitely help for one-handed play.
Alternatively you could just try to get used to using the touchpad as a mouse, but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
- Comment on looking for a dock that let's me connect my DVI monitor 8 months ago:
Honestly it’s not that bad, you can probably whack a few more dongles in there
- Comment on looking for a dock that let's me connect my DVI monitor 8 months ago:
That looks horrible and where did you find a picture of my setup?
- Comment on looking for a dock that let's me connect my DVI monitor 8 months ago:
Also make sure it’s converting the right way, I discovered to my detriment that DVI->HDMI != HDMI->DVI!
- Comment on Playtron plans to launch PlaytronOS, a Linux-based OS for gaming 8 months ago:
Choice of Linux distro has always been very fragmented though, and in my very limited knowledge it doesn’t really seem to be that much of a problem. They all basically do the same thing using the same core technology, so if both this and the Steam Deck are making use of Linux to be the OS and Proton to actually play the games then the rest is just a nice bit of user choice, right?
- Comment on Playtron plans to launch PlaytronOS, a Linux-based OS for gaming 8 months ago:
Linux and user choice? Even if it flops it’s always good to have more people trying out stuff like this!
