- Comment on Why does Helldivers 2 have such a bloated install size on PC? Old hard drives, says dev 1 week ago:
SSD’s are at best like… 3 times the cost of an HDD (and in that case you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel finding the worst SSD’s known to man)… At worst they are like 5-6 times more expensive. Speaking in absolutes is irrelevant, the relative costs are the ones that matter. Different regions have even higher prices, too.

They haven’t so far. If they ever do I’ll let you know so you can be really happy about my failure
- Comment on Microsoft Is Abandoning Windows 10. Hackers Are Celebrating. 1 week ago:
No need, the entirety of a building from a Uni I went to runs on XP with the last security patches and browsers that are built for xp compatibility like Supermium with security extensions. They never got hacked. No issues at all and the students can connect to the internet all they want, they aren’t even monitored besides checking they still work once in a while. This is because despite lack of funding for new PC’s, the security department is competent and actually knows how to work around that, as opposed to juat saying what you are all saying here. There are Win7 machines there too, which can be remotely accessed via internet. There’s a magical thing called a firewall. Did you know routers also have a firewall? Crazy right? Did you also know that almost all PC’s are connected to routers, not directly to the internet? Crazy too, right? That’s like basic level security knowledge. If you’re so terrified you will be hacked that you’re willing to put up with Microsoft’s shit, i feel bad for you all.

I’m quite slow in the head but damn nI have no idea how all that happened

That’s great. I have ublock origin and paid virustotal at my side. I’m not safe, but I wouldn’t be any safer with a windows update.

Yea the rich editor probably broke on an update or something. I’ve dealt with that before. Those rich text editors like ckeditor are amazing, until they break one day or a plugin becomes unsupported and you either fix it, or it messes up loads of your content… Caching saved us more than once with that sort of thing. We just used the cached pages and lelft the original completely broken, it just couldn’t be edited anymore but it showed up fine.

… Why are you being downvoted for pointing it out wtf…

I guarantee it is.

Shit should be banned across the board not just for kids. Idk why the fuck authorities are obsessed with kids.
- Comment on Brazil's president has signed a ban on selling loot boxes to minors as part of a larger online child safety law 2 weeks ago:
Microtransactions should be illegal across the board. Only content with real creative gameplay value should be able to be purchased, like the usual DLC’s. Also pay2win should be fucking illegal too. Ruining the experience of other players should not be available as long as you’ve got too much money to spend.
- Comment on EA reportedly to be sold off for "roughly $50 billion" to go private 2 weeks ago:
I really don’t think there’s a point to being disappointed here… Average consumers will consume any slop that is advertised to them. We can enjoy good games while they enjoy their slop… Though I wish more people supported indie developers.
- Comment on Data Shows That AI Use Is Now Declining at Large Companies 2 weeks ago:
We already never really gave a shit at the companies I worked at so far. Bosses love spewing shit about AI, telling us to use it and find out more about it, especially coding AIs, but we often try them out for a bit with serious tasks then revert back to only ever using them for formatting or research assistance. My colleagues tried and failed several times to use them for tasks involving non-trivial logic and it never worked, even with paid Cursor or Gemini.

I really don’t know where you’re coming from with this…I took classes on AI that went into detail and we even made our own functional AI neural networks of different varieties…and I doubt we are the most knowledgeable about this in university. This tech isn’t some mistery. If we knew how it worked enough to make one from nothing else except a working IDE, AI engineers must know pretty damn well what it does…

But…we do know what they are doing…AI is based completely on calculations at the low level, that are well defined. And just because we didn’t find an algorithm for your example yet that doesn’t mean one doesn’t exist.

AI is and always will be just a temporary solution to problems that we can’t put into an algorithm to solve as of now. As soon as an algorithm for issues comes out, AI is done for. But, figuring out complex algorithms for near-impossible problems is not as impressive to investors…
