Not sure how their model works but at Netflix there are probably still people checking what content is shown to the user. If they have AI slop on their platform, nobody was checking it.

Not owning the hardware is a good thing. Tech evolves so fast, your Hardware is unusable for new games in 2 years. At least that was the case before AI buys every bit of RAM they can.

I quit GFN when they added the play time limits. Really gave me anxiety. Plus they tend to add games i could play with my framework laptop anyway. Was a good service until then.
If you are fine with GFN’s service, my advice would be to stick to it. I think you cant get away cheaper. If you are OK with their limitations. Also you still own your games and build a library with GFN.
Speaking of owning. You don’t own Steam games. You purchase a license to access them.

i have a similar problem with titan quest. they discontinued the linux version and now i have a game i cant play.

Not a gamedev but a dev nonetheless. Execs decided managers, POs need to develop too now with AI. This will become a real shit show. Who’s reviewing that garbage? AI? We dont even run full feedback loops yet due to security concerns.
On the other hand a dev colleague refused to do a 40h course of new techstack on company time because AI will solve it. Ehh.
Those who survive this storm will have plenty job opportunities to fix all the bullshit.

hot desks are normal in hybrid working. Id never swap coming in only once in 2 weeks for a perm desk. This is also the reason the company could never do RTO, they dont have the office space. If zuck wants employees to have fun again he should work on employer branding. Good pay, freebees left n right, access to high quality schooling, time to cool down between hot phases. Sprint after sprint without pause is just a marathon. Marathon without pause will be just a slow walk.
