If there’s anything the incoming administration is unconcerned about, it’s the optics of any decisions they make.

Expect those investigations to quietly go away or turn up nothing in about two months from now.
- Comment on The Video Game History Foundation is “not done fighting” after US Copyright Office refuses exemption to aid preservation 3 weeks ago:
“Pirates” are Digital Archivists, preserving history for all of humanity. Just in the TTRPG space alone, there are so many out of print publications that would’ve been lost forever were it not for them, same with videogames as well.
- Comment on The Pentagon Wants to Use AI to Create Deepfake Internet Users 4 weeks ago:
Join the club, that’s about all the internet is anymore anyways. If they really wanted to do something groundbreaking they’d find a way to keep AI off the internet in the first place.
- Comment on Legendary black metal TTRPG MÖRK BORG is getting a brutal, nightmarish side scroller 1 month ago:
Interesting. The ttrpg book itself is pretty good visually, it’s beautiful to look at from a design perspective, but the rules are just kind of whatever. I’m not a fan of the rules-light approach, it’s like, “Hey, yea, just do whatever you want, have fun!” But our gaming group does that regardless, I want content to sink my teeth into and at least the main Mork Borg book is just very sparse with content. I think I remember the core book wasting something like a one or two-page spread on what I would call the most basic of basic equipment lists. While the pages look nice, there’s just so much wasted space and really kind of scant content.
Hope the game comes out well though.
- Comment on Alan Wake 2's next expansion is about a Control agent investigating a spooky painting - and it's out next month 1 month ago:
I know nothing about Alan Wake, but I have played Control, do they take place in the same universe? Or is it just a coincidence that Alan Wake has something called ‘Control’ in it?
- Comment on Spiders release fantasy RPG GreedFall 2 in early access, as its frustrated workers are offered concessions 1 month ago:
Yeah, I remember my Dad was super excited for Greedfall before it released, had pre-ordered it and everything, and then when we played it, it just felt incredibly mediocre. Like, the potential for an epic game was there, but the world just felt so empty. There was just all this empty space that was there for no reason, they could’ve cut the size of the locales down in half, rather than waste the players time trudging around everywhere. It felt like searching for secrets and talking with NPCs was just a waste of time because 99.9% of the time there was just nothing there. I don’t know if they had planned for more to be there, but just had to cut the budget or release too early or whatever. Just a waste for something that could’ve been really epic.
- Comment on Steam Families has officially launched with a big Steam Client Update 2 months ago:
Steam Families is actually awesome, they re-did how the sharing feature works for families and it works great. I’ve been using it for months with my Dad and my son’s accounts and it’s great. Works good on the Steam Deck.
- Comment on The terrible tragedy of a stolen Steam Deck 2 months ago:
Only one is old enough to have friends in that range that they might be stealing stuff without their own parents seeing them with a new handheld console. They don’t normally have friends over without me knowing though, and nobody was over around the time it disappeared. Anything seems possible and I can suspect anyone, but that one seems to have a lower possibility.
- Comment on The terrible tragedy of a stolen Steam Deck 2 months ago:
I feel you, mine got lost/stolen about 6+ months ago, seemingly just inside my house, since I never take it anywhere. I’m not a hoarder, keep a relatively tidy house, though I have kids (so tidiness is only ever temporary). I turned over and looked through literally every room in the house, every cupboard, shelf, drawer, and piece of furniture was checked and re-checked and still, nothing. I only just got over it a few weeks ago and broke down and got another one, but this time got an AirTag for it. I’m just more annoyed at the not knowing part, hopefully it’ll just turn up in some stupidly ridiculous place that it hadn’t occurred for me to look, but I suspect I won’t see it again. I doubt it was stolen, since that’s seemingly the only thing gone. Potentially one of the kids broke it and, rather than tell me, they trashed it, but that doesn’t seem like them either or one of them would’ve broken ranks and confessed.
It drove me insane trying to find it before and it still bothers me, but at least I have a Steam Deck again.

More like ‘11 Years to Die’
- Comment on Humble Games confirmed a 'restructuring of operations' with reports of all staff gone 3 months ago:
Compared to the actual Humble Bundles, the games were usually lackluster and if there’s not some good deal, I’m just not going for it. Same with the sales really, so what if it’s a 20/30/40% discount, if I’m not getting a pile of games I’ll never have time to play, I’m just not interested.
- Comment on Report: 82% of US gamers made an in-game purchase in freemium titles in 2023 3 months ago:
I see it as a challenge, what’s the most I can do in the game, not paying for anything? It gets annoying with some the arbitrary restrictions they put up though, meant to slow your progress and just make the whole experience suck. The incentives seems to be, “Buy this pass and you’ll blaze through these boring parts!” But the “benefits” are just based on bypassing some digital numbers that they’ve purposely made as annoying as possible. They made it slow just by tweaking a number in some code, they could just as easily dial it to another number, but likely it’s at the optimal number for whales to start paying money. It all feels very predatory.

- Comment on Nvidia head reckons we’ll have games where AI generates ‘every pixel in real-time’ in under a decade 7 months ago:
They probably won’t be particularly fun, but there will definitely be games made by AI at some point. I think the AI for NPCs will get alot better, but I wouldn’t expect generative AI to know what makes a game fun/stimulating for humans.

They just poop whenever and wherever, doesn’t matter where they’re at, maybe it’s subconsciously and they just don’t even care. However, their almost perfect aim in hitting my car seems to suggest they have some amount of control over the process.
- Comment on Mouth 11 months ago:
We had parakeets and lovebirds that would do the same thing, they’re either really stupid or really trusting or both. Seeing how gross birds can be sometimes with just at-will pooping made it feel disgusting though, like they were gonna poop in my mouth at any moment.
