Ubisoft should shut down their entire company, nothing of value would be lost.

As long as people more competent get control of the longer lived franchises.

The market they are missing out on is growing. If 4 friends decide to play a game, and 1 has Linux, those 4 will not play a Ubisoft game.
So even if Linux is only about 3%, it could mean 12% lower playtime on their games, and that will reflect in lower future sales. Where people will prefer to buy games they play more.kartoffelsaft@programming.dev 1 month ago
How many of your friends you game with are non-linux users? That sometimes happens, but rarely. Usually they’ll still play these titles when I’m not around. In fact the most common thing I’ve seen is they’ve already bought/downloaded the game and they’ll ask if I’m willing to join, to which I’ll say it doesn’t run. Everyone I’ve met tries to accomodate for that particular play session, but they don’t extend that as far as their purchasing habits.

Like all of them?

2/2 of the people I play with regularly are non-Linux. I’ve been trying to get them to switch. They’re technologically literate, for the most part, so they’d do fine over here. One issue is one does audio stuff (he makes music sometimes) and that’s got some issues transferring, and that’s the one more likely to switch over. The other one could without an issue but just doesn’t want to go through setting up a new system.

As I wrote it doesn’t mean they don’t play it, but it means they play it less.

That’s just not how people work at all lmao. If 1 doesn’t have it then they just don’t all play it for that one session. Those other 3 may play it on their own. What are these ass pull stats? The hypothetical case has almost no chance of being realized.

As I wrote they play it less. I never claimed they don’t play it. and I clearly indicated that the numbers aren’t stats, I made an example and a hypothetical based on it.

Their games are fucking shite anyway, I wouldn’t even want to play them.

Siege has been sort of dead for awhile (its certainly not growing players), so nothing of value was lost.
Ironically, their anticheat also isn’t worth much.

Ok, probably wasn’t going to play it anyway

Ubisoft: we make your favorite video games less appealing
Durandal@lemmy.today 1 month ago
There isn’t a single one of my favorite games made by ubi… and ubisoft is half the reason for that.

ughh imagine a Riders Republic without Ubisoft and with mod support?
Same with Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint…

Regrettably Anno is Ubisoft. Love that game so much.
hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 1 month ago
They already do that by requiring you use an Ubisoft account. You shouldn’t be buying from them anyway just because of that. Doesn’t surprise me they made another anti-consumer decision.

Yuuup. Ubisoft has some great titles, but their interference makes them not worthwhile.
No, I’m not installing your crappy bloated launcher. Get bent.
