Man that’s rougher than I expected. 0/3, either we got really unlucky or supply vs. demand is way out of whack :(
That’s definitely some rough luck. Hopefully you’re on the next round!
I was lucky enough to make it on the 1TB reservation queue in the US!
I got lucky and got in the queue.
That’s awesome! So jealous though
Same, had a couple of friends join the list and myself and one friend got lucky. Wish it were cheaper, but I’m excited.
Yeah me too.
That reminded me to check my email and I’m in queue for the 1Tb. I think this might rate my first woot in over a decade.
Woot!
Woot!
Meanwhile I’m still waiting for my Steam Machine reservation 😭
Wait, there’s another queue?
Yeah there’s a reservation list (you’ll get it soon) and a waitlist (not so soon).
There are several reservation queues:
Yup, waitlist. Very sad. At least we can share in the sadness together.
I also landed on the waitlist. Sad :(
Damn, that email meant I missed the draw?
I’ve missed every steam lottery draw and this one sucks the most. 50% odds, too, apparently.
If it says waitlist, then yes. If it says reservation list, you made it!
Oh snap, I misread it! It says reservation.
Thanks for the comment!
Oh yay, I got the email saying “reservation queue” and wasn’t really sure what that meant - I assumed it was “you’ve not won this round, but you’re in the queue if someone drops out”.
yay!
I got lucky and got onto the reservation list for a 1TB model!
(Germany)
also got lucky, with the 256gb model!
256,EU
also waitlist 😭
Four friends entered, 2 got it. I was expecting worse ratio.
I actually got in the queue but I probably can’t afford the damn thing right now, I was being a bit optimistic when I signed up lmfao
Valve didn’t want my money too.
They took someone else instead.
I am disappointed and shocked that Gabe chose someone else!
That’s so not like him
I own three Steam Decks and my account was made when Half Life 2 released. I have been “past” the wait-list on both the Machine and the Frame.
Like, oh well, but still.
21 years, active, good standing. Also waitlisted, rather hear that than nothing whatsoever, though.
What does it mean if I received nothing?
The emails are sent out in batches (according to someone in this thread, it does make sense though). It means the email batch your in wasn’t sent yet, so you still have to wait for the email. I also haven’t gotten an email yet.
It means you died. Please give my condolences to your friends and family. If you do get an email that your reservation was approved, please forward it along to me for further inspection.
rip
Have you gotten the mail yet? I’m still waiting for mine
No!
I was literally sitting at a table with my only other friend who ordered one when the mail got sent, she got in and I didn’t.
Salty, to say the least.
Waitlist, both for me and my nephew. I hate the lottery system.
It’s the fairest solution imo. What would you prefer? A bot beating you to the punch?
I have managed to get every single Valve hardware I wanted to get so far (Deck, Deck OLED, Controller), just by showing up on time and being patient with the servers. Until now. So for me personally, my experience with the old system has been better.
They already had bot prevention measures by requiring a game purchase on Steam etc just like they did for the Frame. If a bot managed to buy a Steam Controller, it could also have entered the lottery. So I’m not sure that there is much of an advantage.
Waitlist also, western NA region, 1TB model. Damn.
What are y’alls thoughts for when the next wave for reservations may go out? What were Machine/Controller waitlists like? This is my first foray into Steam lotteries.
As someone who is still in the waitlist for the Steam Machine, and Steam Controller…
For some, they still weren’t like… they just are…
Ooof
Would looove to know that too, I have no idea of what to expect on the waitlist.
The controller page gives an estimate now (the one someone sent me just said “2027” but that’s something, apparently for some it said a specific month in 2026). Maybe after the first batch of reservations is fully sold the frame page will be updated similarly. Though if the website in the OP doesn’t have some major sampling bias, it doesn’t seem unlikely that the next batch will cover the remaining pre-registrations. Though when that batch will be not even valve might know right now.
I’m also on the waitlist :(
Same here, EU and 256GB version. Have not seen anyone anywhere saying they won the lottery yet.
I did, I think. My email says I’m in the queue instead of on the waitlist.
I won the lottery for the 256GB variant in the US, for what it’s worth. Otherwise, based on the community tracker, it’s about a 2:3 ratio of reservations vs waitlists so far?
Thanks for that link! I also found this one: steamframeout.com
What you guys planning on doing with a steam frame?
I have used vr for like 3 games and then racing games. But thats about it.
Really difficult to justify 1k+ for a device that to me feels like a novelty outside racing games.
I got an index when Alyx came out, and zero interesting games have come out since.
Minecraft!! I already have hundreds of hours in just Vivecraft with no extra Mods, but I’ve been really getting into the whole of Create Mod (with Aeronautics and Coasters Simulated) recently and those would be amazing in VR. My Quest 1 setup is really starting to struggle though, so I’m putting off a full Create + VR playthrough for the frame.
I also kinda want to get into VR Chat, I think. Just to try that whole “socializing” thing, see what the fuss is about.
Other than that, I’m fine with having a novelty device. I used to really like VR for studying since it forced my Adhd ass to keep the studying material in my field of view. But now I’m done with my education (and on some proper medication) so it’s not much of a use case anymore.
I really kinda love vr. I had a dev kit back in tge day and bought tge vive when it came out. Things that are pretty outdated right now i assume. I can’t stress enough how much i love the idea of vr and whatever, but for some reason i get sweaty as hell, i kinda get dizzy, depending on the game. But more than anything else, for some reason it scares the piss oht of me, and i don’t know why. Scary Movies and video games do nothing for me. With vr it’s embarrassing. The best game i played was half life and minecraft (a really early build) i ripped my headset of playing half life and i pushed further until the point where you first encounter these big walkers and i just couldn’t. It’s weird, and i don’t know if that is something i would ever get used to.
I had an original Vive, and I enjoyed it. There’s not too exclusive VR games, but there are other experiences. For example, 3D movies are viewable without the shitty experience that is a 3D TV. There are also a lot of traditional games that have good VR experiences. Also, obviously, porn.
I used my Oculus CV1 a fair bit before I had to stow my PC for a while. Then of course meta made it so you needed to get a special secret user account on a new service which I could never get to validate, and their stuff didn’t work in Linux anyway, so …
But shooting games, space sims… Various things.
I fully expected to be waiting till spring. Got reservation, to my surprise. I’ve got 1500€ set aside for it since January.
1TB, EU
Don’t want to give anyone false hope, but I got a Steam Machine reservation email about a month after ending up on the waitlist (I’m sadly in the US).
Managed to get on the reservation queue for the 256GB in Canada.
I think Valve used up all of my luck for the foreseeable future, I somehow managed to get a controller at launch, a Machine within a few weeks of launch, and now the Frame.
Still haven’t 100% decided if I’ll keep my slot, but chances are pretty good I will given I’ve been looking to upgrade from the Rift S for a long time.
Fuck.
Waitlist (ಥ﹏ಥ)
I got in the queue. I’m sure there will be a lot of cancelations though. A lot of people probably signed up because it was free, and we’re still deciding if they wanted to purchase. In three days I bet you get your chance.
Out of curiosity, which version did you sign up for? I signed up for the cheaper one. I wonder if the more expensive one is more limited?
I signed up for the smaller version as well. Judging from the tracker website, you indeed had a slightly better change for that one than for the 1 TB:
Although that doesn’t tell us anything about how limited it was, since it also depends on how many ordered that version in the first place
I’ve received my reservation notice half an hour ago. ♥️ (EU)

I’m so happy for everyone else in these comments saying they got on the reservation list. Image
